Baked Caramel French Toast

Say hello to your new favorite breakfast treat for lazy Sundays and special occasions. This Baked Caramel French Toast offers irresistible flavor made from simple ingredients, and it can be assembled the night before. Just pop the dish into the oven in the morning and enjoy a special home-cooked breakfast with all of the flavor and none of the stress. 


  • 14 slices of French bread, about 1-inch thick (from one large or two small loaves)
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 6 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • Cinnamon


Over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil and cook for 2- 3 minutes until the caramel comes together. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch x 11-inch glass or ceramic dish.

Layer the bread slices over the caramel mixture.

In a medium bowl, mix eggs, milk, and vanilla. Pour over the bread. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon and cover with plastic wrap.

Refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, uncover and bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 minutes.

Serve with fresh fruit.
